What does being named a Super Lawyer/Rising Star mean to you?

The Super Lawyer designation has always appeared to me to be one of the most legitimate lawyer awards/recognition.  When I review the attorneys recognized by Super Lawyers, I see only people whom I respect, and with whom I am proud and humbled to be associated.

What is the most satisfying part of your job?

I know it is cliché, but helping people navigate what can be otherwise an extremely opaque system, is beyond satisfying. On top of that, there is a certain amount of theatrics involved in presenting a client’s case, particularly to a jury, that is loads of fun.  Maybe I should have been in the drama club in high school!

What changes do you expect to see within the legal industry in the future?

Unfortunately, I think much of the legal industry will be powered increasingly by non-lawyers and computer software, meaning that we will have a lawyer surplus if we keep turning out new J.D. recipients at the current rate.  This change will be beneficial for the consumer of legal services from a price/accessibility standpoint, but will result in decreased quality unless/until more robust artificial intelligence is widely implemented.  All that said, I do not think robots (or non-lawyer humans) will replace lawyers entirely in many areas, because human interaction will remain a significant portion of what we do.
